Several high-profile music videos on have been defaced on YouTube, as observed on April 10, 2018.
YouTube has been victimized by hackers, as it has been seen that a number of high-profile music videos are defaced on the platform.
Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, which were recorded as the most viewed YouTube videos of all time, have disappeared from YouTube after being defaced by hackers. The image on the video now shows a masked gang holding guns, which is taken from the Netflix show Casa de Papel. The hackers also changed the description calling themselves Prosox and Kuroi’sh.
Several other popular music videos have defaced, including songs from Chris Brown, Shakira, DJ Snake, Selena Gomez, Drake, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift. Some of those videos are still available, with defaced titles and thumbnail images. The Vevo YouTube accounts of these artists had received the morphed videos and it is not immediately clear whether the hackers gained access to individual accounts or if there was a wider exploit with Vevo accounts.
The hackers claimed that they used a script to alter the video titles, Google has been reached out for further updates on the script and other information, however, has refrained for commenting.
